OUGD501 - Synthesis
My essay explored the impact of the Punk movement on graphic design today. Throughout my essay I discussed how punk influences many aspects of society, particularly music and fashion, but as a result had little impact on graphic design. Therefore I have produced two zines, 'GRL PWR' a feminist zine in the style of the original punk zines. This was achieved by using low production methods and imagery such as newspaper clippings to emulate the punk aesthetic. The second zine 'Punk' is a contemporary fashion look book zine. As punk had little impact on graphic design, this second zine represents what punk did hugely influence - fashion. This is created in a modern, contemporary style which as we can see, bears no similarities to GRL PWR which represents my conclusion in my essay - that punk has had its influences but not in graphic design.
