OUGD501 Practical - Production

OUGD501 Practical - Production

In response to the essay and my chosen question, I have produced two zines in different style of punk, one original and one contemporary. The first is a punk fashion look book, which represents a modern punk zine in a contemporary style. The second is a punk zine in the style of an original zine, which would have been produced in the 1970s. These are both aimed at predominately 18-35 year olds who either have an interest in Punk or independent publishing. As this is the target market, designers will be a main part of the focus group, therefore the design must be high quality.

Commercial Application -

Punk -

This zine is A5 and would be produced by professional printers. This zine would be sold in an independent book publishers and would cost £12.50. This takes into account the printing, but predominately there is a high level of photographers, which therefore ups the price and quality of the zine. This target audience is chiefly designers and people with an interest in independent book shops. This zine aims to give an insight into the modern-day punks and the styling and fashion.

GRL PWR -

This zine is A5, printed using a photocopier and standard home printer. It would be sold at 70p and sold predominately at art universities and word of mouth but this zine aims to be accessible to everybody, therefore it would be sold at every possible outlet. The zine aims to be cheap with low production methods as its sole purpose is to raise awareness and encourage younger people to start their own zines.
