OUGD601 - Website Research
When searching
for existing design history websites, a very limited number of results appeared
and almost all had an abundance of information presented to you. Some were not particularly
aesthetically pleasing, which is important as it must appeal to designer’s/budding
designers as they are the websites primary audience. All formatted
their sites to be timelines but all focused mainly on the history and not on
the impact they had and the key principles of the movements. Outlining these into
sub categories can make the websites more user-friendly. Some websites
listed the history in one, long essay of writing. This can intimidate users and
is not approachable when searching for specific movement. Dividing the
movements for people to select will not require endless scrolling and
searching, making the website easier to use.
